Minutes for July 23, 2008 Selectmen’s Meeting

Members Present:  Jean C. Harmon, Clifford L. Emery, Robert C. Libby, Daniel T. Collomy.  Linda W. Pulsoni was absent.

Others Present:  Dave Harmon, Keith Emery, Peter Pinkham, Jack Hanna, Dennis Santolucito, Olive Collomy and Larry Miller.

Public Hearing – Liquor License Renewal Skip’s Bar

Public Hearing Liquor License Renewal
Chairman Harmon opened the Public Hearing for Skip’s Liquor License Renewal at 7:04 p.m.  The Public Hearing was opened to the public and no public comments were brought forth.  The Selectmen were asked for comments.  No comments were received.

Motion made and seconded to close the Public Hearing at 7:05 p.m.  Approved 4-0-1
        

Business Meeting Agenda

1.      Call to Order.

The Meeting was called to order at 7:05 p.m.

2.      Approval of Prior Meeting Minutes.

Selectmen’s Meeting Minutes July 16, 2008.  Approved 4-0-1 (Selectman Pulsoni was absent)


3.      Discussion held between 5:00 & 7:00 p.m.

5:00 p.m. – Pine Tree Waste – discuss extension of Curbside Contract



4.      Review of Correspondence.

·       Letter from Richard B. Brown, York County Manager – Re:  Freedom of Access Laws training August 7 at 6:00 p.m. at the York County Courthouse.



5.      Review of Projects and Issues.

Selectman Libby reported that the Board has finished interviewing for the Fire Chief position.  There are two finalists who will be looked at further to see who is a good fit.

Selectman Collomy reported that the Boston Post Cane was given out tonight and there was a large gathering of friends and relatives in attendance.  


Selectman Emery reported that he has been working on heating oil pricing and it looks as though the Town’s current dealer may be the lowest price.

Selectman Harmon reported that bids for reshingling the roof of the Town Hall have gone out.  Route 22 is being repaved and Route 117 may be closed for another day for tree cutting.  She also reported that the shed at Town Farm Park is almost complete.  There has been some vandalism while the work was going on.

Selectman Harmon reported that the Community Day event was a great success and May Schumacher and her Committee did a wonderful job handling the details.

9.      Executive Orders by Initiative.

E.O.080907018 –An order to approve the renewal application for a Class A Liquor License for William, Ham, III doing business as Skip’s.  Approved 3-1-1  (Selectmen Harmon, Collomy and Libby votes “yes”, Selectman Emery voted “no”, and Selectman Pulsoni was absent)


10.     Accounts Payable and Payroll Warrants.

12.     Other Business.

York County Community Action is accepting applications for the LIHEAP program starting July 22 at the Town Hall.  Applications will be taken every Tuesday and Friday.  Individuals over age 60 and families with children under the age of 2 will be eligible for appointments first.  To make an appointment call 1-800-965-5762.


13.     Public Comments and Questions.

Larry Miller stated that Route 22 was being repaved rather than re-constructed.  The process is just a “quick fix”.

Larry wanted to know the process of who was managing the Police Department now that the Chief was gone.  Corporal Emery is in charge from 9:00 – 5:00 p.m. and Officer Grovo is in charge from 3:00 – 11:00.  The day to day operations are on-going and the bills are being paid and resident’s complaints are being handled.  Officer Camarie is handling the vehicle maintenance.

Dianne Senechal thanked all those that helped make the “Keep The Heat On” booth at the Community Day event a success.  A thank you was extended to Skip’s for the ice, Poland Spring for the water, Jen & Brian Barschdorf for helping with the sales and Andy at Main Street Variety for supplying the boxes and plastic bags for the returnable bottles and cans.

Keith Emery stated that the next time the Town has a project go out to bid they may want to think about a full package as the new school is moving right along.

Olive Collomy stated that she thought May Schumacher did an excellent job and the fireworks were very good.

Olive thanked Barbara and Robert Cariddi for donating the Boston Post Cane to the Town.
